The low-height, high-visibility Mercedes-Benz Econic is designed for stop-start, on-off applications and is a popular choice for urban waste collection – available in diesel and electric variants.
The health and safety of the driver and crew – and other road users – are a key focus of this ergonomically designed truck. Its low seat position, large windscreen and floor-to-ceiling glazed folding doors put drivers at eye level with what’s happening on the road – enhancing overall safety and operational control. A low, one-step entry makes moving on and off the truck safer and less strenuous for crew.
Diesel variants feature a Euro 6 OM936 Mercedes-Benz engine paired with the class-leading Allison 6-speed automatic transmission.
The all-electric eEconic features an ePowertrain electric drive with a maximum output of 400kW. Energy recovery during braking increases efficiency, making it ideal for stop-start driving in waste collection applications. Recharging the battery from 20% to 80% takes around 75 minutes.
