Actros L takes MB’s best to the next level

Mercedes-Benz has announced production of Actros L, the most spacious and well-equipped of the brand’s premium model range.

With a GVM range of 18T-33T, the Actros L will be available in 4x2, 6x2, 6x2/2, 6x4 and 6x2/4 configurations with Euro 6 engine options delivering up to 625hp and a meaty 3000Nm.

Driver comfort is improved thanks to a new seating position, roomier 2.5m-wide cab with increased noise dampening, and a thicker mattress topper.

Mercedes-Benz Sideguard Assist and Active Drive Assist have been updated and will be available as optional extras.

While Sideguard Assist (S1R) could only warn drivers of moving pedestrians or cyclists, Active Sideguard Assist (S1X) can warn drivers and initiate automated braking at turning speeds of up to 20 km/h if the driver fails to respond to those warnings in time.

This improvement has the potential to prevent accidents and save lives.

Active Drive Assist (ADA) can automatically maintain distance to the vehicle ahead and accelerate and steer, if required operational conditions such as clear road markings are met.

Active Drive Assist 2 can automatically maintain distance and initiate an emergency stop if it recognises that the driver hasn’t been actively involved in the driving process for a set period of time.

An all-new multimedia system enables access to the Mercedes-Benz Truck App Portal, which provides data to help improve driver behaviour and vehicle efficiency.

“When developing the Actros L, we placed particular focus on driver comfort, safety, connectivity and total cost of ownership to create further benefits for our customers and their drivers,” said Andreas von Wallfeld, Head of Marketing, Sales and Services at Mercedes-Benz Trucks.

Actros L will go into production in Europe in November 2021.
